Roots n' Blues 2008 – James Hand

Willie Nelson calls him “The real deal,” and he may very well be, despite being a less than recognizable name in his genre. James “Slim” Hand came to Columbia, MO as the first act on the main stage Friday night. Given the name of the festival (Roots n’ Blues n’ BBQ) I’d say that James Hand definitely fits more in the “roots” end of the spectrum.

Hand is a down-home honky-tonk kind of guy whose sound makes me think of hanging out at a Southwest ranch at night with a bowl of chili. I’ll be honest with you, the music isn’t really my taste but it’s really good if you like that style.

If you’re a Country, or Honky-tonk fan check him out at his website when you get the chance, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
