Daily Photographer – Day 32

Hey everyone, I have a bit more time today so I get to write more than 2 sentences before I have to take off. The photos from today and yesterday were shot at Blanc Burger in Leawood. One of my new favorite restaurants.

I’m really happy that I’m able to show these to you now that enough time has passed since they were published. Food photography is something I really enjoy, it offers a totally different set of challenges from portraits.

For instance, this shot had to be timed perfectly so the little white disc of herb butter would just start to melt. I couldn’t let it melt too much or it wouldn’t have looked near as good. That means that all the lighting had to be set perfectly without having any real idea of what it was going to look like.  If it wasn’t then I would have missed the window while I was fixing my light.

The challenge is what I enjoy most about it I think…that and the eating it part.
