LATEST PROJECT: Central Missouri Humane Society – Charity Shoot
I know.
Deep title right?
Ha!
Aside from actually writing a blog entry I think coming up with the title is the hardest part…so, I give up…from now on it’s going to be the first thing that comes to mind no matter how stupid.
Anyway, today’s is relevant, thankfully. Last night I got the urge (as I sometimes do) to go through the discarded images from last year’s sessions and see if I could find a few gems to spark some creativity.
Some of them turned into very close crops like the one of Ashley above. I originally discarded it because the eyes aren’t tack sharp like I like them to be in my shots, but the crop wowed me so I had to work it and overcome that pickiness.
It’s been quite some time since I dirtied up a photo. I love playing around, and although I prefer clean n’ simple looking shots embellishments can really transform a piece.
The one above was done when creativity woke me up at 5 this morning. Such is life.
Back to work now, I have some jewelry photography to finish up today and then hopefully I’ll be able to post that up here too.
Hope you all have a great day!

Well ladies and gents, if you’ve been following along today then you already know I worked very hard to bring you the images you’re about to see. After the other week when I missed the opportunity in Kansas City, there was no way in hell this one at Mizzou in Columbia was getting by me.
So, after a tremendous amount of effort, negotiating and professional photographerism (new word), I made absolutely sure I got in to this one.
Hello readers, sorry for the brief sabbatical from blogging. I went home to Kansas City this weekend to hang out with family. Always good times. Had a few surprises while I was out there. One being the fact that Obama came to town, that was kinda cool. I didn’t bring my press pass home with me cause, well, who knew I would need to?
Let’s just jump right into the photos, eh?
This is Ashley, a young woman with a ton of potential who has taken part of the offer I posted about last week. She doesn’t have a ton of modeling experience, but as I’m sure you’ll all agree…you can’t tell.
More after the jump.
I don’t generally post my design work on here because well, this blog is more about my life as a professional photographer; however, I am also a commercial graphic designer and the project I am in the midst of is pretty remarkable.
Heavy Frequency Magazine is putting on it’s 5th annual awards show, where they will once again honor the best of the best in local music. The endeavor is planned and executed by a young woman named Heather Bashaw, and her all volunteer staff. Heather has been running Heavy Frequency Magazine for about 8 years now, and she is only twenty-two years old. Yes folks, you read that right. She started this highly revered magazine when she was only fourteen.
For the past 3 years I have volunteered my services both as a professional photographer and a graphic designer. This year I am helping develop the ad campaign for their fifth annual award show, and this is the final look we have decided on:

So, all of you in Kansas City and the surrounding metro area…be on the look out. They get distributed soon.
Also, if you want to see a great show, make sure to be there. From what I understand there will be some huge prizes given out (some just for attending) and some even bigger thing that I have been sworn to secrecy about.
My lips are sealed.
