Adam came to me a while back and asked me if I would help him recreate his wedding day for his wife on their first anniversary. He told me about what had happened with their original wedding photographer, and how they didn’t want those images to be all they had to remember the day by.
We talked about what disappointed them with the original shots, and some places they might like to revisit. He had already decided they wanted me to shoot, so we set the date immediately.
I have to say, this was a great experience for all of us.
Casey was glowing the whole day. I’m not sure if she knew this was coming or not, but wow. She looked so happy you would have thought she just got married all over again.
She described to me some of her dream shots, and we did everything she wanted.
I went in with the intention of shooting everything as I would on an actual wedding day, even down to the little details.
I promise I didn’t leave Adam out.
Fifty years from now, they won’t remember that their first images weren’t all that they dreamed of. They will feel that these photographs were the reality of that special day in their lives. Every shot had that intention in mind.
Not neglecting the very modern sides of their personalities though.
Casey did a phenomenal job – she didn’t miss a beat.
They were both a pleasure to work with. I feel fortunate to have been a part of this re-creation for them. After all, making a difference in peoples’ lives is a big part of what being a professional wedding photographer is about.
That…and snapshots of cute puppies.
What can I say? I’m a sap.
