I didn’t realize this the first couple of times I looked over the shots in this series but when I did I started cracking up.

A lot of weightlifters have stood in front of my lens. This guy is the first to look like he’s doing it with his mind. I feel inspiration coming on. It’s going to be an early, and very long day tomorrow so that’s it for today’s post. I’m going to bed.

There is a pretty solid Ebay addiction going on with me right now. I don’t know what started it either.

It’s like all of the sudden I remembered that I can find basically anything on there. The latest hunt is for all of the Simpsons DVDs. Why did this become a priority to me this week? I have no idea. I can’t even say that it’s a bad thing given how much I love that show. Nevertheless now I find myself searching for stuff to want which is completely ridiculous given that there really isn’t that much. Really, if you have to think hard to come up with something you want…do you really want it that bad?

She finally convinced me to buy real trainers. I’ve been rockin the Sambas for as long as I can remember and I’m totally ok with that given that it’s been Adidas’ top selling shoe since it came out.

Christa by David Bickley Photography

However, all things must change I suppose. Right? Though I seriously doubt I’ll ever not own a pair. They’re just too classic. I’m pretty adamant when it comes to shoes for guys. So much so that I’m planning on an article about the five crucial shoes every man should own. It’s one of those things that I think most of my gender is sadly uneducated about. That and how to tie a tie (bow ties included). Don’t even get me started on suits. Anyway, back to the point…no more Sambas in the gym. I think this may be the first time I’ve ever owned a pair of Nike’s.

Weird.

I love productive days, especially when they’re coupled with gorgeous weather.

Christa by David Bickley Photography

One of my favorite things in life is rolling the windows down, turning the radio up and driving to pretty much anywhere. There’s going to be a lot of that going on in August. I decided a while back that I’m not going to fly into Las Vegas for the WBFF worlds. I want to drive. Yes it’s a long haul but definitely not the longest I’ve done. Not only will I have some solid road time but it’s going to make it that much easier to bring the gear I need for the images I have planned. I have no idea when I’ll come in or when I’ll leave but I’m beyond excited to finally be able to make it to the WBFF Worlds. The KC show is just a few days away and I’m loving seeing how excited you all are for it. If we haven’t met yet please feel free to come up and introduce yourself, I would love to meet you.

Lots of interesting things going on today folks. The jury is still out but I may be traveling again very soon.

Christa by David Bickley Photography

Well, traveling outside of the states anyway. If not very soon then at least in September. We all know I don’t like to talk a lot about things until they are solid so once I have the plans set you’ll know. For now though, I’m going to put “The Hobbit” on and get to work on some images that need to go out tomorrow. I love the dwarf song in this movie.

I have no idea what the weather is going to do tonight and subsequently whether or not I will have reliable power. Good news for you cause I’m posting while you’re all still awake!

It’s been a pretty awesome day so far. Christa (pictured above) is married to a good friend of mine from school so I got to see them both at once as well as make some great images for her. All in all I’d say that’s pretty solid even if that was all I had going on, but it’s not. Now my gorgeous woman and I are headed to the gym ourselves. She’s competing next weekend in the WBFF show here in KC. After that it’s back to working on images, unless the power goes out and then I have no idea. I have a pair of boots I’m working on repairing, maybe I’ll do that. I know it sounds strange but it’s a project I’ve really come to enjoy.

It seems like the business idea I had a few weeks back is going to be waiting a bit while I try to nail down the logistics of getting things manufactured.

Loni by David Bickley Photography

There are a number of options for doing this but as with anything, I want to make sure I’ve weighed all of my options before I decide on the best direction. Of the things in life I feel I excel at, the ins and outs of manufacturing is nowhere on that list as of yet. I will remedy that soon enough but until then…I have to put this on hold. I’m kinda bummed about that cause I am really excited to let you guys in on what I’m up to.

After about an hour of wearing a child-sized Captain America mask for an event we went to go see the new StarTrek movie.

Loni by David Bickley Photography

First and foremost, I can’t tell you how happy I am to be with a woman so much like myself. Being able to go enjoy dorky stuff it one of the most important things to my existence. There’s no way I could ever shun something just because it’s “geeky.” It’s funny to me too that many people are fine with going to see something like Spiderman or The Avengers, but balk at the idea of StarWars or StarTrek. Especially when you consider that of all possible things the future could hold, an interstellar spaceship is far more likely than a big green angry dude teaming up with a team of super-humans to fight giant alien flying armored slugs…or swinging from the rooftops to fight a dinosaur-man. Why is one more unacceptable than the other?

Now that the rant is over…the movie was awesome. Go see it.

I’ve been wracking my brain now for the better part of an hour trying to decide what to talk to you about today.

Turns out it’s another one of those times that I really just don’t have much to say other than it’s fitness season and I’m working diligently to make sure that there are no hiccups in communication while my workload increases exponentially for the next week and a half…maybe three. It’s hard to say for sure as I’m still trying to lock down some travel plans. Of course I will keep you all posted.

While sitting here watching a brief documentary on Micro Air Vehicles (small bird, or bug sized robots used for surveilance) a tiny bug started flying around my monitor and I definitely had a brief moment of paranoia. Chances are it wasn’t a robot spy, but it was too coincidental to take a chance.

Barby by David Bickley Photography

Ever since “The 5th Element” I’ve wondered about bugbots. Ff we had cameras that small, what would the perspective look like? Do you remember what the world looked like when you were a kid? I don’t but I routinely try to look at the world from that height if not from that state of mind. How cool would it be if we had a camera small enough to see from an ant’s point of view? I would love to be able to take that photo, wouldn’t you?
