Up Close and Personal

By far one of the most useful things I think a photographer can improve on is their ability to keep steady. In certain situations this can be extremely difficult, like macro photography. You’re working with small subjects, generally shallow depth of field, and mostly focal lengths larger than 100mm. These things combine into something that you should generally use a tripod for. I didn’t bring mine. In fact I rarely use one at all. It’s just not something I need more often than not.

Which is why today’s image is hand held.

Patience to get an image is an understatement when you’re shooting a living creature and your very heartbeat will throw the shot out of focus. To answer the question…it took 4 shots to capture this one.
