This page houses a project spanning 5 years. It began in 2010 as a self-imposed challenge; A daily way of keeping myself accountable to the building of my business, and honing of my craft. When it came to a close in 2015 it felt more like a documentation of my professional evolution, and a glimpse of me while transitioning into my 30’s.
And so I give you “the daily photographer.”
A little late on the post today aren’t I? I am here though, and so is today’s shot!
I was looking through my archives this morning and stumbled across this shot of my friend Micah Lacerte from HitchFit.com. I had completely overlooked it the first time I saw it several months ago, but today…today I love it.
Sometimes all it takes is a shift in perspective to bring the best out of a piece. That’s why I love going through old photos from time to time. As I change and grow, so does my view on the work.
I realized today that I’ve never shown you all one of my favorite shots. I love it so much that it’s the first image potential clients see when I send out my portfolio. So, while I hate to use work that isn’t brand new…I guess this is brand new to you all!
For all you fellow photonerds out there, I get a lot of questions about the lighting on this shot. There are no strobes here, no artificial lighting…it’s all natural.
I absolutely love how the light wraps around her, it’s almost angelic.
Alright public, I have to get back to editing down the magazine stuff so I can send it off.
See you tomorrow,
Yeah, so my plan to use pictures of spring-like things isn’t working. In fact, it snowed.
So, we’re going to abandon that effort and get back to people for the day. I’ve been sitting on this shot for a bit waiting to try and figure out if I wanted to do something crazy to it, or leave it as is…
Obviously I chose to leave it nice and simple. I don’t know, it may not be the strongest photo I’ve ever taken but something about it moves me.
I can’t believe I’ve been at this for two weeks! I’ll take a pat on the back for such consistency.
Say hello to Jessica Ahlborn, an amazing photographer in her own right. She’ll be flying in from Seattle in a couple weeks and we’ve planned a pretty awesome set for you guys. You can check out her work here.
Anyway, I’m off to continue my efforts in productivity.
